Bake or Die Gunslinger

The cheapest S-tier class in Bake or Die: 65 Gold Nuggets and a Revolver that makes every later gun better.

Gunslinger Class

Gunslinger is the Bake or Die class most players should buy second. It costs 65 Gold Nuggets, it starts you with a Revolver, and it sits in S on the class tier list because the perks apply to every firearm you purchase later. Bombastica still clears denser nights. Gunslinger still gets you to those nights without waiting on 250 Nuggets and an explosive-pie factory.

The kit is a Cash multiplier. Two Revolvers at $150 each, then Garand, Sawed-Off, SMG at $1,250, then Exo at about $14,500, all reload faster, waste less ammo, kick less, and hit harder than they do on Baker. If you hate guns, this is the wrong row; take Gladiator or Butcher. If you keep dying with a slow reload in the diner door, this is the row.

Starter Revolver and the dual-swap

You spawn with one Revolver. Buy a second from the Gunsmith for $150 as soon as Day 1 pies allow. Fire one, swap, fire the other, reload the empty while the live gun works. That pair costs $300 total and beats a lonely SMG you cannot afford to feed. The class does not skip the swap; it makes the swap disgusting. Level 1’s +35% reload turns the six-round curse into a stutter instead of a funeral.

Keep the starter gun. Selling it to “upgrade” into one slow rifle is how people throw the cheapest S-tier in the game. A butcher knife at $200 is a backup for the counter, not a replacement for the pair. Read the weapons rankings for the rest of the Cash ladder, then come back here when a purchase does not get a gun perk.

Ammo is the hidden tax. Level 2’s 10% chance not to spend a round is why Gunslinger stays S after the SMG shows up. Automatic fire without that perk eats pie money. Automatic fire with it is why you can hold a funnel and still repair in the morning.

Level perks

Level 1. All guns reload 35% faster. This perk is on the moment you equip the class, which is why 65 Nuggets is a real upgrade and not a costume. It hits Revolvers, SMG, Exo, Minigun, Za Vonderblaste, Bounty Hunter’s pump if you later switch, and anything else that uses a mag. It does not hit the Kaboom Cannon, because that is pie ammo on another class.

Level 2. 10% chance a shot costs no ammo. It feels small in a revolver cylinder and huge in an SMG mag. Do not build a whole night on the proc; build a night on not running dry, and treat the proc as extra plates for the turret budget.

Level 3. Guns deal 24% more damage and recoil drops 67%. This is the breakpoint where mid-run rifles stop feeling like loud Revolvers. Recoil reduction is the mobile perk: you can track runners instead of painting the diner ceiling. If you never play Gunslinger to level 3, you paid 65 Nuggets for reload only, which is still good, and you left the S-tier on the table.

Buy path around this class

Beginners: Juggernaut at 30 if you still face-tank chip damage, then Gunslinger at 65, then save for Bombastica at 250. That is HP, then guns, then explosives. Squads can insert a Doctor at 75 without dropping Gunslinger; someone still has to shoot. Melee friends can be Gladiator. You stay on Revolvers.

After Gunslinger is owned, do not immediately chase Bounty Hunter at 450. Bounty Hunter starts with a Pump Shotgun and pays Cash for civilians and bosses, plus overlapping gun perks. It is a late S or A flex. Sixty-five Nuggets of Gunslinger plus a $1,250 SMG will beat a 450 Nugget shotgun you cannot afford yet. Wizard at 600 is a different sport. Necromancer at 300 is the summoner fork if you are tired of aiming; it is not a Gunslinger upgrade.

Login exclusives do not replace this buy. Mad Scientist’s Hand Cannon is a different ranged kit you cannot purchase. Scavenger’s magnet does not shoot. Buy Gunslinger.

How to play nights

Hold the single diner funnel. Dual Revolvers on Night 1–3, Garand when range fails, Sawed-Off when the door needs a punch, SMG when Cash is real. Plant an Auto Turret if a Technician or a blueprint exists so you can reload without the doorway eating you. The class does not give night vision; Ninja and Necromancer do. Light, mines, and a closed second door are still your problem. Survive nights covers the geometry Gunslinger cannot buy.

Bosses that are one fast body are your best nights. Recoil control and reload speed win single-target races that Bombastica spends pies on. Packed add phases are when you let explosives or a Necromancer army take the clump while you keep the named target painted. Beat bosses is the fight list; this page is why your SMG is allowed to be there.

Pies still matter. You need Cash more than Baker does, because every perk is a gun perk. Bake to fund mags and turret plates, not because the class wants explosive meat. If a teammate is Bombastica, they get the explosive trays; you get the sell trays.

When Gunslinger is the wrong click

You never shoot. You only want to cook. Baker is cheaper and still C-tier, but it matches the fantasy. You only want melee and you accept a gun ban: Gladiator. You already own Gunslinger level 3 and the diner is stable: now you may save for Bombastica or Necromancer. You think 65 Nuggets should wait because S-tier “should cost 250.” That thought is how people waste a month on Repairman and Gardener.

Sixty-five Nuggets is cheap only if you actually buy the second Revolver and stop dumping Cash into toys the perks do not touch. Equip Gunslinger, swap the pair, and let every later rifle inherit the 65 Nugget receipt.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for diner nights, classes, and pie sells.

Why is Gunslinger S-tier when it costs 65 Nuggets?

The perks buff every gun you buy later: +35% reload, 10% ammo save, +24% damage, and −67% recoil. Cost-for-impact beats kits that are stronger but five times the price.

Do I still need to buy guns if I spawn with a Revolver?

Yes. Buy a second Revolver at $150 and swap. Then climb Garand, Sawed-Off, and SMG. The starter is the first half of a pair, not a forever loadout.

Should I skip Gunslinger and save for Bombastica?

Only if 250 Nuggets is already in the bank and you can bake explosive pies under pressure. Most players should take the 65 Nugget S-tier first.

Does Gunslinger work with the Exo Rifle and Minigun?

Yes. Damage, reload, ammo save, and recoil perks apply to later shop autos including the Exo Rifle, Minigun, and Za Vonderblaste.

Is Bounty Hunter just a better Gunslinger?

It is a 450 Nugget shotgun kit with bounties and similar gun math. Buy Gunslinger first. Treat Bounty Hunter as a late S or A luxury, not a replacement.
