Bake or Die Class Picker

A decision tree for 19 classes: solo or squad, nugget budget, melee versus guns versus summons.

Class Picker

This picker is a table you read, not a widget that spends Gold Nuggets. Bake or Die sells classes in the lobby Class Shop. Cash from pies cannot buy them. There are no codes that unlock a kit. The default spine this wiki recommends is Juggernaut (30 nuggets) → Gunslinger (65) → Bombastica (250). Everything else is a branch: Doctor for squads, Exterminator for poison, Necromancer for summons, Gladiator if you swear off guns.

Walk the tree in order. Do not skip to Wizard because the staff looks rare.

Step 1 — Solo diner or squad

Solo. You need hit points, a weapon that works without a medic, and a pie loop you can run while the funnel is quiet. Buy Juggernaut first (double HP, Brass Knuckles). Save for Gunslinger (Revolver, faster reloads). Save again for Bombastica (Kaboom Cannon, Fire Zombies, explosive pie scaling). Skip Baker, Medic, and Repairman on a solo account — they are cheap because they do not carry Night 4.

Squad (three to 32 on the same diner). Split roles. One player still takes the Juggernaut or Gunslinger spine so the street has damage. A second player can take Doctor (75) or Technician (45) so revives and turrets exist. A third player can take Butcher (40) to grind corpses faster or Exterminator (55) to poison the funnel. Do not stack four Bakers. Cash is shared; nuggets are not — coordinate who buys the 250-nugget bomb kit so you are not three Bombasticas with empty Explosive Meat.

Step 2 — Nugget budget

0–65 nuggets

This is the only bracket that matters for week-one accounts.

  • 0–29. Play the default kit. Farm badges, dailies, and chests. Do not impulse Baker (10) or Medic (15).
  • 30–54. Buy Juggernaut (30). Live. Learn the funnel. Keep saving.
  • 55–64. Optional: Exterminator (55) or Ninja (55) if you already have Juggernaut and hate waiting for 65. Most solo players should wait.
  • 65. Buy Gunslinger. This is the cheapest S-tier gun class. Reload speed at Level 1 changes Night 6 from a wipe to a plan.

Technician (45) is the squad exception in this bracket: if your friends already have damage, the turret kit is a better 45 than a second Juggernaut.

65–150 nuggets

You already should own Gunslinger or be one daily away.

  • Gladiator (75) — best melee if you accept the no guns rule. High risk, Death Wish at Level 3. Not the solo beginner pick.
  • Doctor (75) — squad heal and Revive Kit. Skip on solo until Gunslinger exists.
  • Unicyclist (150) — mobility. Flying was removed around the 19 June 2026 patch (community-reported). Buy this for wheel speed, not rooftop skips.
  • Scavenger — scrap magnet kit. Nugget price was not published on the lists this wiki checked. Do not plan a budget around an unknown tag.

150–300 nuggets

This is the endgame save.

  • Gardener (200) — ingredient plants. Fun, not a Night 1 carry.
  • Bombastica (250) — the damage ceiling. Kaboom Cannon plus explosive pies. Buy this when you can also feed it Explosive Meat. See Bombastica.
  • Necromancer (300) — summons, Undead Staff. Strong when you can stand still and manage souls. Weaker than Bombastica at clearing a packed funnel. See Necromancer.

If you must choose one 250–300 purchase on a solo account, take Bombastica. Necromancer is the summon branch, not the default spine.

300+ nuggets

  • Necromancer (300) if you skipped it.
  • Bounty Hunter (450) — Pump Shotgun, cash bounties on civilians and bosses, gun perks. A gun alt once Bombastica is owned.
  • Wizard (600) — staff spells, expensive prestige kit.
  • Mad Scientist — Hand Cannon, crawler summons. Listed as exclusive; nugget price unpublished here. Treat it as a flex unlock, not a budget row.

Do not buy Wizard before Bombastica because a lobby mannequin glowed. The 600-nugget staff does not replace six-slot pies.

Step 3 — Melee, guns, or summons

Melee. Juggernaut (tank) → Butcher (grind) or Ninja (speed) → Gladiator (commit, no guns). Melee dies to late-night density unless you are Gladiator with a funnel.

Guns. Gunslinger (65) is the entry. Bounty Hunter (450) is the expensive gun alt. Technician turrets are defense, not a gun class. Bombastica is explosives, not bullets, but it occupies the same “I delete the street” job.

Summons. Necromancer is the real summon class. Mad Scientist crawlers are a late exclusive. Exterminator poison is a DoT tag, not a pet.

That is 19 classes. Food Factory and later stamps may add more; this table is the roster this wiki can price.

  1. Farm nuggets — badges, three dailies, chests. No codes.
  2. Juggernaut at 30.
  3. Gunslinger at 65. See Gunslinger.
  4. Keep a farming class in mind (Butcher) only if pies are your bottleneck.
  5. Bombastica at 250 once Explosive Meat exists in your runs.
  6. Doctor / Technician / Exterminator as squad needs, not as a solo detour.
  7. Necromancer, Bounty Hunter, Wizard after the spine is done.

If you still cannot decide, buy Juggernaut tonight and leave Bombastica on the wishlist until the next nugget payday. The diner does not reward a 600-nugget staff on an empty HP bar.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for diner nights, classes, and pie sells.

What is the best first class in Bake or Die?

Juggernaut at 30 Gold Nuggets. It doubles HP. Next buy is Gunslinger at 65, then Bombastica at 250.

Should solo players buy Doctor or Baker first?

No. Doctor is a squad heal at 75. Baker is a cheap bake perk that will not carry Night 4. Follow Juggernaut → Gunslinger.

Is Exterminator worth 55 nuggets?

As a poison tag in a squad, yes. As your first class, no. Spend 30 on Juggernaut or 65 on Gunslinger unless you already have a tank.

Can I use guns on Gladiator?

No. Gladiator cannot pick up guns. Only buy it if you want the melee commit.

Do codes unlock classes?

No. Bake or Die has no code redemption. Classes cost Gold Nuggets in the lobby shop. See Codes and Nuggets.

Where are full perk lists?

Use Players / Classes and the class tier list. This page is only the buy-order tree.
