Bake or Die Pie Calculator
Six slots, $11 versus $55, and when Explosive Meat, carrots, yeast, cheese, or radioactive filler pays.
This calculator is arithmetic on a table, not a live mixer. Bake or Die pies have six ingredient slots. A savory pie with one basic slot sells for $11. The same savory pie with all six slots filled sells for $55. That 5x jump is the whole early economy. Cash buys guns, turrets, repairs, and later the Minigun. Gold Nuggets still buy classes in the lobby — pies never pay for Bombastica. There are no codes that print Cash.
If you remember one line, remember this: fill the tin. A one-slot pie is a Day 1 emergency, not a strategy.
The six-slot table
| Pie | Slots used | Sell price | Cash per oven cycle | Cash per slot |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Savory meat (1 basic) | 1 | $11 | $11 | $11.00 |
| Savory meat (2 basic) | 2 | $22 | $22 | $11.00 |
| Savory meat (3 basic) | 3 | $33 | $33 | $11.00 |
| Savory meat (6 basic) | 6 | $55 | $55 | $9.17 |
| Six separate 1-slot pies | 6 pies | $66 | $11 each, six cycles | $11.00 |
Two traps sit in that table.
Trap 1 — “per slot, the tiny pie is better.” $11 per slot versus $9.17 per slot looks like a win for one-slot pies. It is not. The bottleneck is oven time, not meat, after Night 2. One full savory pays $55 per cycle. Six tiny pies pay $66 only if you stand at the oven for six cycles and six shelf walks while the sun is dropping. You do not have that daylight. Cash-per-minute favors the full tin every time you have six meats in the crate.
Trap 2 — “six tiny pies are $11 more.” They are, on paper. They also cost six mixer trips and six oven waits. The extra $11 does not buy the SMG before sundown. The extra cycles cost the night.
Linear $11-per-slot holds for partial savories up through five meats; the six-slot savory is the documented $55 price, not $66. Do not plan a bank run on a $66 full savory. Plan on $55, then let premium ingredients push above that.
When a 1-slot pie is allowed
Day 1, first sunrise, three corpses on the street. You need a gun more than you need perfect math. Bake the meats you have — even one or two slots — sell, and buy the cheap rifle. Then stop. The moment the grinder holds six zombie meats, the emergency is over. From Night 2 onward, a 1-slot bake is wasted daylight unless the oven would otherwise sit empty while you wait for a premium drop.
Spoiled corpses are worse than 1-slot pies. Drag bodies to the grinder before you repair the last window. A spoiled pile is zero slots.
Explosive Meat — the two-slot exception
Fire Zombies grind into Explosive Meat. One Explosive Meat plus one Zombie Meat makes an Explosive Pie. That recipe uses two slots, not six, and sells at a premium (exact extra dollars were not printed in a Discord table this wiki could quote). It is the correct exception to “always fill six” because:
- Oven cycle time stays one pie, not six.
- You save four meats for a second tin.
- Bombastica scales explosive and mine pies (range, damage, knockback) and can Overcharge the Kaboom Cannon.
- Bombastica Level 1 also guarantees a Fire Zombie some nights, which feeds the same loop.
If you are not Bombastica, still grind Fire Zombies first. The Explosive Pie’s oven efficiency beats stuffing six basic meats when Fire corpses are on the floor. If you have Explosive Meat and five leftover zombie meats, bake the two-slot explosive and a four- or six-slot savory from the rest. Do not dump Explosive Meat into a bland six-slot savory just to “fill.”
Carrots, yeast, cheese, radioactive
Premium filler is for raising a tin you were going to bake anyway, not for six one-ingredient novelty pies.
- Carrots — carrot-headed zombies. Mix into empty slots of a nearly full savory or a named carrot pie. Do not bake a lone carrot.
- Yeast — fast / yeast-headed zombies. Same rule: top up a tin. Yeast is a price bump, not a Night 1 gun fund.
- Cheese — Sewers (14 February 2026, Day 11). Cheese Pie is a post-Day-11 product. Do not spend Day 3 daylight hunting sewers you have not unlocked.
- Radioactive — Radioactive Rat Meat (Sewers) and Radioactive Egg (Evil Chicken, 13 March 2026). Radioactive Pie is premium. Never use radioactive meat as anonymous filler next to six zombie strips if you can isolate it into its own named pie.
Factory pies from the July 2026 Food Factory drop follow the same logic until you sell one and read the till: new ingredients are premium, still six slots, still not a reason to bake singles. Named recipes and extra combos live on Pie Recipes.
Cash-per-minute, not cash-per-meat
A useful way to think about a Bake or Die day:
- Count corpses you can grind before they spoil.
- Count oven cycles you can finish before the sky turns.
- Spend meats to fill those cycles, not to maximize dollars per strip.
If you have 12 zombie meats and time for two cycles, bake two 6-slot savories ($110) rather than twelve 1-slot pies you cannot oven. If you have 1 Explosive Meat, 1 zombie meat, and 6 more zombie meats, bake one Explosive Pie and one 6-slot savory. If you have 4 meats and time for one cycle, bake the 4-slot savory ($44 linear) rather than waiting for two more corpses while the generator starts sparking.
Squads share Cash. One player should run the mixer while another holds the funnel. Four people each baking 1-slot pies is how a 32-player diner still goes broke.
What this calculator will not do
It will not claim a factory pie sells for a made-up number. It will not add a code that dumps $55 into the register. It will not replace How to Play or Survive Nights. After a Discord patch that reprints sell prices, this table moves. Until then, $11 / $55 is the verified savory pair, Explosive Meat is the two-slot exception, and premium heads (carrot, yeast, cheese, radioactive) go into named tins instead of the trash slot.
A full savory pie is never glamorous, but it is the only math that funds a Minigun before sunrise without leaving five empty slots in the tin.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for diner nights, classes, and pie sells.
How much does a Bake or Die pie sell for?
A 1-slot savory sells for $11. A 6-slot savory sells for $55. Premium ingredients (Explosive Meat, carrots, yeast, cheese, radioactive) push the price above that baseline.
Why not bake six 1-slot pies for $66?
You spend six oven cycles to get $11 more than two full savories. After Night 1, oven time is the bottleneck. Fill six slots per cycle.
When should I mix Explosive Meat?
Whenever a Fire Zombie hits the grinder. One Explosive Meat plus one Zombie Meat makes an Explosive Pie in two slots. It is required thinking for Bombastica.
When do cheese and radioactive pies show up?
Cheese and radioactive rat meat come from Sewers at Day 11 (14 Feb 2026). Radioactive Egg drops from Evil Chicken (13 Mar 2026). Do not hunt them on Night 1.
Do pie sales buy classes?
No. Pies pay Cash inside a run. Classes cost Gold Nuggets in the lobby. See the Class Picker and Nuggets.
Where are named recipes listed?
On Pie Recipes. This page is the slot math and the mix-versus-fill rule, not the full cookbook.
