Bake or Die Gardener
C-tier farm class at 200 Gold Nuggets: Watering Can, plot plants, and harvest that feeds the oven.
Gardener is Bake or Die’s 200 Gold Nugget farm class. You buy it in the lobby Class Shop, you spawn with a Watering Can, and the shop stamps it as 5-pie rarity. The kit plants ingredients in farm plots, waters them, and tries to print food so the oven does not wait on corpses. It is a C-tier economy row on the class roster, priced like a carry and playing like a garden. Baker at 10 Nuggets is the cheap oven. Bombastica at 250 is the fifty-Nugget-more wave-clear you should be saving for instead.
Cash from pies still funds guns and repairs. Gold Nuggets still unlock classes. There are still no codes. Servers still hold 32 players. Big Bakers launched the diner on 5 April 2025 and is still patching it as of 6 September 2026. Gardener does not change any of that. It changes whether your next tray starts as a seed.
Watering Can and farm plots
Every match with Gardener equipped puts the Watering Can in your hotbar. Level 1 Green Thumb is the class: plant ingredients in farm plots and water them for 50% faster growth. That is a day-phase job. If you water during a Blood Moon, you are gardening in a raid.
Plots need ingredients you already have. You cannot plant a Cheese Pie you have not unlocked. You plant the meat, carrot, yeast, or later filler you can spare, then you wait, then you harvest into the same six-slot math as everyone else. Read pie recipes so the harvest actually fills a tin. Use the pie calculator if you are about to plant six singles instead of one full savory.
Do not skip corpse grinding because plots exist. Corpses still spoil. Plots still take time. A Gardener who never visits the grinder is a 200 Nugget watering animation. Keep a cheap gun for the night; the can does not hold a door.
Level perks
Level 1 — Green Thumb. Plant ingredients in farm plots. Water those plots for 50% faster growth. This is the whole fantasy. It is also why the class is C: nights do not wait on sprouts. The perk does not bake, sell, or shoot. It grows the crate you still have to mix.
Level 2 — Expert Irrigation. The can holds +3 water, and boosts last 50% longer. Fewer trips to refill, longer speed windows. This is quality of life, not a Night 8 carry. If level 2 feels strong, you were wasting half the morning walking back to water. If it feels invisible, you are not planting enough to need the extra tank.
Level 3 — Bountiful Harvest. 25% chance planting does not consume the ingredient, and harvests give +1 from every plant. This is the economy breakpoint. Free plants plus extra yield is how 200 Nuggets can print more trays than Baker’s bake speed if you actually stay on the plots. A level 1 Gardener is a can. A level 3 Gardener is why the row costs more than Doctor and Gladiator stacked.
Economy class versus Baker
Baker costs 10 Gold Nuggets, starts with a Cutting Board, bakes 50% faster at level 1, and later sells pies for +5% then +10%. Gardener costs 200, starts with a Watering Can, and prints ingredients instead of oven time. Baker is cheaper and still C-tier combat. Gardener is twenty Bakers in price and still C-tier combat.
Buy Baker if the oven is slow. Buy Gardener if the crate is empty and you already own a night class. Buy neither if nights currently kill you. Juggernaut at 30 and Gunslinger at 65 still come first. Farm the 200 on the nuggets route; do not pretend a watering can is a Revolver, and do not wait on a code that does not exist.
Bombastica at 250 sits in the same savings bracket. Fifty more Nuggets buys S-tier explosives. Two hundred buys plants. If your wipes are “too many in the door,” the garden will not hold the door. If your wipes are “we ran out of meat on Day 8,” Gardener is the luxury that feeds Bombastica explosive trays after the street dries up. That is a late-run reason, not a week-one reason.
How to spend the 200
Do not buy Gardener as your first class. Do not buy it because 5-pie rarity looks fancy next to Baker’s cheap icon. Buy it when 200 Nuggets will not delay Bombastica if you actually wanted Bombastica, when a squad already has a Gunslinger or a Doctor, and when you are willing to walk plots every morning.
Day phase: plant first, water, grind corpses that already exist, bake the harvest plus the grind into six-slot pies, then guns and repairs. Night phase: you are a Baker with a can. Hold the funnel with whatever gun you bought. The class does not give night vision, poison, Overcharge, or a Pump Shotgun. Light, mines, and a closed second door are still your problem.
Squad: one Gardener is a farm. Four Gardeners is a community garden that wipes on Night 4. Pair with Butcher if corpses are plentiful; plots plus a Chainsaw is ingredient overflow. Pair with Bombastica if Explosive Meat is the bottleneck. Pair with Baker only if the oven, not the crate, is the leak — two economy kits and no gun is how a 32-player diner still goes broke.
When Gardener is the wrong click
You still die on Night 3. You have 200 Nuggets and no Gunslinger. You wanted to main farm in a zombie diner. You thought 5-pie rarity meant S-tier. Repairman at 20 is a cheaper trap; Gardener at 200 is the expensive trap. Unicyclist at 150 is the other middle-price mistake: speed is not a farm, and a can is not a cannon.
If you already own Bombastica and the oven is dry because Fire Zombies stopped dropping, then the plots become a real argument. Until then, the 200 belongs in the Kaboom fund or in a Doctor if people stay down. The roster is a menu. The night is the test. Plants that miss sunrise are compost.
The Watering Can is a 200 Nugget bet that tomorrow’s tin starts in the dirt instead of on a corpse. Level it to Bountiful Harvest, fill six slots, and stop planting during the eclipse. A pretty plot with an empty shelf is still a $0 diner.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for diner nights, classes, and pie sells.
How much does Gardener cost?
200 Gold Nuggets in the lobby. It is a 5-pie rarity farm kit with a Watering Can. Cash cannot buy it and there is no code unlock.
What does Green Thumb do?
Level 1 lets you plant ingredients in farm plots and water them for 50% faster growth. It is a day-phase perk. It does not hold the night funnel.
What do Expert Irrigation and Bountiful Harvest add?
Level 2 holds +3 water and makes boosts last 50% longer. Level 3 gives a 25% chance planting does not consume the ingredient and +1 harvest from every plant.
Is Gardener better than Baker?
Baker at 10 is faster baking and later sell bonuses. Gardener at 200 prints ingredients. Baker is the cheap oven. Gardener is a late crate. Neither carries Night 6.
Should I buy Gardener instead of Bombastica?
Almost never. Bombastica at 250 is S-tier wave clear. Gardener at 200 is C-tier economy. Save the extra 50 Nuggets for the Kaboom Cannon unless the crate, not the door, is your wipe.
Do farm plots replace corpse grinding?
No. Corpses still spoil and still fill tins. Plant what you can spare, then grind the street. A plot is extra slots, not a substitute for the grinder.
