Survive Nights in Bake or Die

Funnel one door, stack spikes, feed turrets, buy dual Revolvers, and reinforce before every Blood Moon.

Survive Nights

Nights in Bake or Die are the tax you pay on a good morning. If the diner holds, sunrise burns leftovers and you grind tomorrow’s pies. If it breaches, you spend the day repairing instead of baking, and Day 6’s Evil Chicken arrives while you are still broke. This page is the funnel, spikes, walls, turrets, gun stopgaps, and a Night 1-5 checklist. Boss kits live on Beat Bosses. Gun ranks live on the weapon tier list.

Funnel one door

Board or reinforce every entrance except one. Zombies path to that hole. Your line of fire, spike machine, and later Auto Turret all cover a single chokepoint. Four open doors means four repair bills and no stack. A 32-player server can still wipe if everyone ‘covers a window’ instead of stacking the funnel.

Leave the diner interior walkable. You need a path from the door to the grinder after sunrise. Do not maze yourself so hard that corpse runs take the whole morning.

Spikes, walls, generator

The indoor spike machine is early-game DPS. Stand on it. Trap ticks stack with melee swings (Juggernaut Brass Knuckles, Butcher knife at $200, later Chainsaw or Katana). Zombies walking onto you take both sources. If you are still broke on guns, this is the Night 1-5 plan.

Walls take hits so you do not. Repair them last in the day order — after collect, grind, bake, craft, shop — so daytime traffic does not reopen a patch. Blood Moon nights (heavier volume every five nights) need that repair on night four, not during the eclipse.

The generator in the back room sits under the yellow high-voltage sign. If zombies slip the funnel and kill it, lights and turrets die. Check it between waves. Old Batteries from houses recharge it. A dead generator on Night 5 is a wipe even if the front door looks fine.

Turrets and ammo

Rescue trapped NPCs during the day for blueprints. Auto Turret is the first craft that changes nights. Place it covering the funnel, not the desert. It eats Gunsmith ammo — restock before sundown or it goes silent mid-wave. Technician (45 Nuggets) starts closer to turret play and later crafts Advanced Auto Turret; you do not need Technician to use a rescued blueprint.

Do not craft a spike gadget before the turret if you only have one blueprint window. Turret covers the night while you bake. Spikes are the melee stack you already have indoors.

Dual Revolvers and the gun ladder

Cash buy order for nights:

  1. Dual Revolvers at $150 each. Fire one, swap, fire the other. Swap DPS beats a single cheap gun and is a fraction of the SMG.
  2. Butcher knife $200 if your class is melee (Juggernaut, Ninja, Gladiator — Gladiator cannot pick up guns at all).
  3. M1 Garand, then Sawed-Off for close bursts (Evil Chicken cares).
  4. SMG at $1,250 once pies are consistently $55.
  5. Exo Rifle around $14,500 when the run is long.
  6. Ray Gun from Mad Scientist / four-part assembly, Za Vonderblaste and Minigun from later updates — not Night 3 shopping.

Gunslinger at 65 Nuggets reloads 35% faster and is the cheapest combat class that makes this ladder feel fair. Bombastica’s Kaboom Cannon is wave clear, not a reason to skip the funnel.

Night 1-5 checklist

Night 1. One door. Spike stack if melee. Dual Revolvers if Cash appeared from starter pies. Do not explore. Survive, then collect every corpse at sunrise.

Night 2. Same funnel. First full $55 pies should be on the shelf by morning. Buy the second Revolver or the Butcher knife. Start looking at houses for NPCs, but be home before dusk.

Night 3. Craft Auto Turret if the blueprint dropped. Feed it ammo. Fast zombies (Yeast) and carrot variants start mixing in — still funnel, do not chase.

Night 4. Repair like Blood Moon is tomorrow, because it is. Extra wood now is cheaper than a breached generator. Sawed-Off or Garand if the bank allows.

Night 5 / Blood Moon. Heavier spawn. Stay on the funnel. Do not split 32 players into the desert. If the turret dry-fires, someone failed the Gunsmith restock. Landmark +1 Nugget for surviving Night 5 is nice; a standing diner is nicer. After this night you are in Evil Chicken range — switch to Beat Bosses for Day 6 prep.

Golden carrot nights and tropical-storm variants exist as lighter or themed spawns; treat them as farming windows, not an excuse to leave walls down. A ‘easy’ night still spoils corpses if you wander.

Night survival in Bake or Die is architecture. One door, one spike plate, one turret facing that door, two Revolvers until the SMG, walls patched on the afternoon before a Blood Moon. Players who ‘out-aim’ Night 5 while the generator dies are not surviving — they are speedrunning a wipe. Build the funnel on Night 1 and you will still have a diner when the chicken lands.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for diner nights, classes, and pie sells.

What is a Blood Moon in Bake or Die?

A heavier zombie night that lands every five nights. Reinforce walls on night four, restock turret ammo, and stay on the funnel. Do not start a long explore on the afternoon before a Blood Moon.

What guns should I buy for early nights?

Dual Revolvers at $150 each, then Butcher knife at $200 if you melee, then M1 Garand, Sawed-Off, and SMG at $1,250. Full order: weapon tier list.

Where should I stand if I only have melee?

On the indoor spike machine at the funnel. Trap damage stacks with swings. Juggernaut's double HP makes this safer until Gunslinger or Bombastica is unlocked.

Why did my turrets stop firing?

Either the generator in the back room died, or the turret ran out of Gunsmith ammo. Recharge with Old Batteries and restock before night.

When do I stop using this night plan?

Keep the funnel forever. After Night 5, add boss-specific prep for Evil Chicken on Day 6. That kit is on Beat Bosses, not a second funnel guide.

Should the whole server split up at night?

No. 32-player online co-op still wants one chokepoint. Assign a generator watcher and a turret ammo runner; do not each pick a window.
